Community Communications

Listserv Information

 Thank you for considering being part of the North Farm Citizens Association listserv. This is a moderated listserv.  By joining this e-mail listserv and communication group, you agree to follow the etiquette guidelines set for this listserv by the NFCA board.  You must be an owner or living in the North Farm Community to join the listserv, although in some instances special guest members may petition to join.  All who join must adhere to the etiquette guidelines in order to be a member in good standing.


Note, the listserv email address of neighbors@northfarm.groups.io goes to the entire community on the listserv, the NFCA@northfarm.us email address goes to board members only.

Please note that as this is moderated by volunteers, your email may take a little bit of time to be approved (don’t expect an email sent at midnight to be approved right away, it will likely be approved sometime the next morning).


Note:  emails regarding safety issues and lost pets are typically allowed through even if missing name and signature.


Rules & Etiquette


Messages MUST be signed with your first and last name, as well as your street name (house number is optional). An email without name and street will be sent back to the emailer for updating.  The exceptions to this requirement are:

  • Safety and security alerts where a timely notification is warranted
  • Lost or found pets
  • Emergency announcements
  • Quick updates to the listserv to notify an item for giveaway/sale is no longer available

Why?  As we are a neighborhood listserv and are solely for the benefit of improving the neighborhood, ownership of each email sent is required.  We do not want anonymous postings made.

Other rules:

  • No commercial postings or business marketing, endorsements, solicitations or promotional messages.
  • No political endorsements or political campaign postings.
  • Naming or referencing specific people or houses can only be done for thanks or praise, no personal attacks or comments.

NFCA listserv etiquette guidelines:

  • Be courteous and keep it impersonal.
  • Don't challenge or speculate about others: individuals, houses, or businesses.
  • Humor is wonderful, but be mindful that it can be misunderstood.
  • If you have an issue for the NFCA, please use the nfca@northfarm.us email address.
  • Please limit Reply All responses to only when necessary.  Most responses should only go to the sender of the original email, and responses such as "agree" and other gestures should just be a reply to sender unless you are adding additional commentary (don't forget your name and street name).
  • NFCA “guests” should use the listserv judiciously by limiting postings.
  • There are file size limitations for attachments, make sure your email goes through, don’t send 20 5Mb pictures.

Examples of permitted uses: homeowner looking for contractor references; individuals (not realtors) seeking housing or homeowners offering houses to rent or for sale; announcing rummage/garage sales; posting notices of neighborhood school events and school fundraisers;  seeking or offering babysitting; expressing concerns about neighborhood & community issues; and announcing small items to give away or sell on a non-regular basis.

Examples of uses NOT permitted: advertising, marketing or promoting business services or products; posts seeking clients or business opportunities, such as realtors seeking homes for rent or sale, or realtors seeking clients or offering homes for sale or rent or seeking homes to sell or rent; advertising of services for home maintenance, web services; and political endorsements or campaign postings.

Join:  send an email to:  northfarm+subscribe@groups.io

Comment to the board about Listserv: send an email to nfca@northfarm.us


Listserv Options

When you join the Listserv, you can have an option of how you would like to receive emails.

Individual Emails:  Receive each email separately when it was sent

Daily Digest:  Receive only a daily email with a listing of the emails sent that day (if any were sent)

Guest:  Ability to send to Listserv, but will not receive regularly posted emails from the community

By virtue of joining this group or posting to the discussions or using the listserv, you have agreed to follow these etiquette guidelines.

The NFCA board, after fair warning, reserves the right to suspend listserv membership for anyone who repeatedly violates one or more of these rules.  The NFCA board reserves the right to modify these guidelines.
